My buddy paints for a living and told me that a full paint job would be 15-20k if it were and insurance job and like 4-10k if it’s out of pocket

I'm not even a "body" guy, but as soon as I heard this guy say, "I don't want bondo" tells me this guy has no clue of how body filler works and the whole body shop processes for that matter. All "Sema" quality cars have body filler, how it's worked is what separates it from backyard job or "show" quality work.

For starters, it's a civic that was your first problem.Your second problem was thinking that it deserved $10000 paint job.And your third problem was you paid.This student for the job was even done. Painting a car is a tedious thing and you're probably rushing him.I wouldn't doubt

Ok this has been some weeks ago but here goes. You got a terrible paint job both times if you need that much paint correction period. After you saw the first paint job was horrible should have went somewhere else. Top tier paint job and paint correct or pdr should not be in the same sentence. The painter saw you coming from a mile away.

Dayum, biggest red flag here for other people is that you should ALWAYS pause when there's cost creep... Be clear from day 1 on what tou expext, what youll spend and dont let them push you around. *Easier said than done*

Rip off. I do paint for a living. High-end show cars usually end up being around 30k for a 3-stage paint job. Quick refresh with minor bodywork, should be around 10k-15k completely buffed out looking better than new.

Funny you’re not the first person I have heard of having bad experience with them. I know they do a lot of insurance stuff and that can be a bad mindset to have in a painter if you need perfection. Just get it in and out ain’t good all the time. I’m surprised because they probably knew who you are. Maybe not I just know they always got Hondas there.
